Christopher Herrera is a seventh generation Sonoma County farmer who learned a great deal of what he knows about farming, not from his parents but from YouTube! What he learned and the methods he employs are both completely modern and extremely ancient. The amount he and his brother Andrew, with the help of family and friends, has accomplished on the new property they’re working since February of this year is significant. Their Deep Roots Farm is by the side of our County’s third busiest road, where folks can see it and find it and come shop and support it. This modern model of next generation family farming, so crucial to our future, is the center of this conversation with host Clark Wolf.
This Sunday evening host Clark Wolf welcomes Chef and Culinary Instructor Dan Kedan who, with his wife Marianna Gardenhire, owned the beloved Backyard restaurant in Forestville for nearly a decade. These days he is a tenured professor at the Culinary Institute of America at the St. Helena Greystone property and working on local and national programs on sustainability and true farm to table practices. 
Viola Buitoni was born in Rome and raised in the Italian countryside, where she ate, lived, and cooked very much by the seasons in a way to which many of us aspire here in Sonoma County. She studied in the US and lived for a time in New York City, where she met host Clark Wolf some twenty-five years ago, later moving to San Francisco where she now teaches cooking and lives with her husband and child. Her new book, Italy by Ingredient, is a personal, passionate, and beautiful addition to a beloved lexicon, especially here in Northern California, as well as across America. 
The legendary Russian River runs through some of the most beautiful and fertile lands in a benchmark region of food and farming. That River gives and sustains life for so many plants and creatures, large and small. Don McEnhill is steward to the waters that come from north and East (and the sky) and eventually spill out into the Pacific Ocean at Jenner. He's the Executive Director of Russian Riverkeeper and has been passionate about this critical part of the world since childhood. McEnhill joins host Clark Wolf to talk about this key component of food and living here, and all over the world.

We speak about her years as an environmental and farming advocate, as Manager of the Sebastopol and later Santa Rosa Original Certified Farmers Market, work with Slow Food and many other lasting community efforts. We are joined by her youngest daughter Elizabeth Corsini, Farm Trails Executive Director Carmen Snyder and Chef/Professor Daniel Kaden who share with us about this amazing friend and powerhouse, who is deeply appreciated and sorely missed.
