Few people alive today hold as much history and continue to have as much impact on our community of food than Lindsey Shere. Born in Chicago, her family came West, where she was raised on a 500-acre ranch in Healdsburg that included a stretch of the Russian River. In the kitchen from an early age, she later went on to work as pastry chef of Chez Panisse for some (26) years, co-founded Healdsburg’s Downtown Bakery and Creamery, produced both editions of Chez Panisse Desserts, and was part of the legendary Bakers Dozen. Today, at 88, she lives on Eastside Road, travels the world, and meets friends at the Healdsburg Farmers Market.
We talk about the last near century of cookery and food life. And find out who her roommate at Cal (Berkeley) was, those many years ago!
