For the last decade or so host Clark Wolf has moderated panels in the Life on the Farm section of the Gravenstein Apple Fair. Usually, it’s farmers and others who take care of us addressing fundamental topics of strong interest. This year the focus of Sunday’s panel was a lively discussion of those big words being used these days: sustainable, regenerative, responsible. Farmers (a James Beard Award winning grain farmer!), organizational leaders, design directors, wine growers and more. But Saturday was a tasty departure, featuring six top talents who baked stellar Gravenstein apple pies in their own unique styles, then judged each others and we gave some awards. Inspiring and full, in every sense of the word.
Panel included: Jennifer Reichart (Liberty Duck farm), Melissa Bucklin (Oak Hill Farm), David Evershed (Eames Ranch), Mai Nguyen (Farmer Mai), and Brittany Jensen (Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District).
Pie Contest featured: Priti Mistri, Daniel Kedan, Geneva Melby, Dawn Zaft, Gergana Karabelov, and Michele Wimborough.
Savoring Sonoma: The Hour, every 2nd and 4th Saturday at 5:00am and Sunday at 10:00am on KRCB 104.9 Sonoma County's NPR station.
