The Annual Old Grove Festival takes place at the historicRedwood Forest Theater in Armstrong Redwoods SNR in September. This beautifulopen-air theatre was built in the 1930s. Concerts and theatrical events tookplace there for decades until the theater was closed in the 1980s out ofconcern for natural resource protection. In 2006, the theater was reopened forlimited use by Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods (Stewards) and CaliforniaState Parks. Event reservations are limited to alleviate environmental impactsand due to parking limitations.
The Old Grove Festival features an outstanding variety ofmusical and theatrical productions that help Stewards raise funds to supportour educational and stewardship programs, as well as continued advocacy for allState Parks. The festival also benefits the Save the Redwoods League, anonprofit organization that protects and restores redwood forests and connectspeople with their peace and beauty so these wonders of the natural worldflourish.
