Kathleen Edwards’ new album, Total Freedom, marks her return to music after eight years. Back in 2012, she decided to quit the business altogether and opened a coffee shop, the aptly named “Quitters Coffee.” Since then, she’s been waking up at the crack of dawn to work in her Ontario cafe - And it took an unexpected phone call from Nashville to get her back into the studio. We’ll hear that story today, and Kathleen performs songs from the new record, live. Coming up, on this encore edition of the World Cafe with host Raina Douris.

Nick Lowe has been writing songs for over 50 years, including classics like “What's So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding” and “Cruel to Be Kind.” But in the ‘70s, he was known for his work as a producer – at the upstart label Stiff Records – and it was there that he first started working with a young Elvis Costello. We’ll hear about that era today, as well as his recent work – a new EP with Los Straitjackets, called Lay It on Me Baby. And Nick performs live from his home in London. That’s coming up, on the next World Cafe with host Stephen Kallao.

Margo Price released her solo debut, Midwest Farmer’s Daughter – a country record – in 2016. So, it surprised many fans when she followed up with a rock album. That’s How Rumors Get Started draws on influences like Tom Petty, and it’s actually a return to her roots – For over a decade before her breakthrough, she was playing mostly rock. Margo joins Nashville correspondent Jessie Scott to talk about the new music, working with longtime friend Sturgill Simpson, and about the conflict she’s felt between career and motherhood. Plus, Margo performs live. Coming up, on the next World Cafe.

There may not be a musician alive with more stories than David Crosby. His life and career have been so interesting, Cameron Crowe made a documentary about him last year. The Croz joins host Raina Douris today to talk about that film, and to discuss his musical projects past and present, including his recent work with his Lighthouse bandmates, Becca Stevens and Michael League. Plus, we’ll find out what he really thinks of Jim Morrison and The Doors. It’s David Crosby, on the next World Cafe.
