Sundays at 8:00 pm. In 1837, a diminutive, neglected teenager is crowned Queen Victoria, navigates the scandal, corruption, and political intrigues of the Court, and soon rises to become the most powerful woman in the world. Victoria stars Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) as Queen Victoria in a highly anticipated series that follows the drama of the candid, spirited monarch who was perhaps the first woman to seem to have it all.
Monday at 9 pm. Based on the novels by John Galsworthy, this lavish production of The Forsyte Saga chronicles the vicissitudes of the leading members of a large commercial upper class English family, similar to Galsworthy's own. Only a few generations removed from their farmer ancestors, the family members are keenly aware of their status as "new money." The main character, Soames Forsyte, sees himself as a "man of property" by virtue of his ability to accumulate material possessions—but this does not succeed in bringing him pleasure.
For those suffering from Downton Abbey withdrawal, KRCB has scheduled a binge-worthy wintertime marathon of all six seasons of the top PBS drama of all time, the most popular series in Masterpiece’s 45-year history, and one of the most-watched dramas on American television.
