The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years

eightdaysaweek 350Saturday, November 25 at 8 pm. From Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard, The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years tells the story of these exceptional touring years from the perspectives of the band, its orbit, the four fans, and their world. The film recreates the touring experience through the eyes of the band members themselves, where every stop was an adventure.

Along the way, the film delves into the inner workings of the group how they made decisions, created their music, and built a collective career together as well as the effect those years had on their personal and musical evolution. But while the band created the spark, it was young people around the globe who created the firestorm. The film also explores the incomparable electricity between performer and audience that turned the music into a movement, a common experience that became something sublime.

Great Performances: The Moody Blues – Days of Future Passed Live

moodyblues 350Sunday, November 26 at 9 pm. Great Performances captures The Moody Blues in performance at Toronto’s Sony Centre during their 2017 Days of Future Passed tour. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of their landmark album, The Moody Blues took to the road to perform the entire LP live. The concert special showcases the band in performance for the first time with a full orchestra in a spectacle that recreates their pioneering concept album.

The show features narration performed by Jeremy Irons along with atmospheric projections, transporting viewers back to the psychedelic era of their classic 1967 record. Including the iconic hits “Nights in White Satin” and “Tuesday Afternoon,” among others, the film pays homage to the band’s five decades of musical influence and showcases their groundbreaking foray into progressive rock.

Great Performances: In The Heights – Chasing Broadway Dreams

In The Heights 350Wednesday, November 22 at 8 pm. In a journey reminiscent of the unexpected zeitgeist success of Hair, A Chorus Line, and Rent, the story behind the success of In the Heights is so organic to New York City that no one expected it to happen. Beginning at a small, off-Broadway theater, a group of talented young artists led by composer-lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda produced an original musical that some have called a modern day West Side Story a Latin and hip-hop-infused musical odyssey telling the story of a neighborhood and the first-generation Americans who call it home. And yet, many in the show's audiences have nothing to compare it to as it represents the first musical that they've journeyed below 125th Street to see. Opening on Broadway in spring 2008 and going on to win five Tony Awards-including Best New Musical, In the Heights on Broadway follows the cast and creative team as they embark on the greatest adventure of their young careers.
