“The field of social work is primarily female!” According to San Jose nonprofit Ujima’s executive director Yvonne Maxwell, “The type of work that we do in social work…is something that women do in our families, we do in our community.” Ujima Adult and Family Services has been providing mental health services to Santa Clara County’s African community for more than 30 years with culturally relevant approaches that foster health, resiliency and healing.
