If you get the chance, I want to encourage everyone to talk to farmers. Sometimes people change careers at some point in their lives. Sometimes it's a new farmer, somebody who grew up in the Midwest thinking, "I want to farm when I get older." And only to discover that there isn't real farming in their entire community, so they come to Sonoma County to find some real farming.
Sometimes I like to talk to young farmers, people who are just emerging, who maybe are second, third, seventh generation, but now it's their turn. And sometimes I really love talking to an older farmer. Some have retired recently, and I think about them every time I go to the market, every time I pick up a head of garlic, every time I munch on a strawberry. Talk to an older farmer and just hear those stories, share those foods.
And remember to Savor Sonoma. I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
