Ghanaian legislators introduced a bill again this month to increase criminal penalties for homosexuality and for supporting LGBTQ+ rights. The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, if passed, would punish same-sex acts with a term of up to three years for same-sex relations and five years for “willful promotion, sponsorship or support of LGBTQ+ activities.”
About 52% of Americans approve of President Donald Trump’s handling of transgender issues, according to a new poll by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.
And here locally, this June will mark the 30th anniversary of the pink triangle installation on Twin Peaks. In June 1996 under the cover of darkness, Patrick Carney and some friends staged a guerrilla art installation atop Twin Peaks. There, pink tarps were laid out in a triangle shape visible to the throngs of people descending on San Francisco for the annual Pride parade. This year’s pink triangle will be installed on June 7th.
