cruzinLR pmThe current exhibition at the Museum of Sonoma County is called Cruisin’ – Sonoma County Lowriders and The Art of Justin Favela.

Working in collaboration with the Sonoma County Lowrider Council the exhibition includes custom lowrider cars, fashion, photographs, and artworks as a representation and celebration of the lowrider culture and lifestyle. The Lowrider Council is an organization that supports and promotes the creative car culture, which is a significant part of the Sonoma County experience.

A special feature in the exhibition is the artwork of Justin Favela, a nationally recognized artist who is known for creating large-scale installation sculptures in the piñata style; including full scale lowrider cars. His work references pop culture, art history, and cultural commentary. Favela is particularly known for his social practice in which he engages local students and community volunteers in the process of creating his unique artworks.

Cruisin’ will remain on view through November 24 at the Museum of Sonoma County on Seventh Street in Santa Rosa.
