Next in our series of conversations with leaders in Sonoma County, Dominic Foppoli, mayor of Windsor, talks with KRCB news director Steve Mencher. This week, the Town of Windsor plans to continue discussions on a change from at-large representation to district elections for City Council. A Southern California law firm has been pushing the change to increase minority political power. It has sued cities all over the state, and hasn’t lost in court in any of the cases it has brought so far.
Another reason we were talking with Mayor Foppoli was his late January trip to Washington D.C. to meet with other mayors, coincidentally during the partial federal government shutdown.
At the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Foppoli, Sonoma Mayor Amy Harrington, and others presented a welcome contrast to the federal government’s gridlock.
