Unmaking War, Remaking Men

Even a world without armies would not be a peaceful utopia, theorizes local author Kathleen Barry, until or unless male psychology changes to prioritize empathy over a deeply ingrained acceptance of violence and loss.

 Violence in war and violence against women spring from the same impulses and masculine acculturation, asserts Kathleen Barry.

In calling for the creation of a single modest peace-keeping force to replace the national armies of the world, Barry says a wholesale new kind of training would also be needed for that force.
