Equine Recession

The human population of northern California is not alone in feeling the effects of the continuing economic recession. Horses are being affected, too.

Susan Jan Hornsteins’ Well-Trained Horses program is based at Icssoma Farm, where lessons, summer camps, stabling and children’s parties are also offered. She also makes a special effort to work with at-rick youth.

Working with horses may look like fun, but Hornstein says these young people are actually gaining some important educational benefits.
