Xihua Li

Xihua not only improved her editing skills, but also learned how to work with multi-camera editing techniques. Working on different projects during the internship gave her a better understanding of how to convey emotions through visuals. She found collaborating with the team to have been incredibly rewarding and, showed her the importance of communication in the creative process.

Bryan Fructuoso Zurita
Bryan created some fantastic work during his internship for the Digital department at NorCal Public Media. He delivered social media support for our TV series Climate California, and he streamlined the process for our short form vertical video creation. He worked closely with the TV Production team to capture the essence of each show into minute-long, impactful segments. He exceeded expectations every day and even helped teach staff some new tricks! Check out a sample of the content he created for us:

Victor Ochieng

As a UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism intern with Northern California Public Media, I contributed to Climate California; an Emmy Award-winning documentary series exploring environmental challenges across the state. I supported both production and post-production

efforts, including field shoots, sourcing supplemental footage, and editing narrative sequences. My work on Episodes 7–10 earned on-screen credit, and the 2-minute piece featured here reflects my role in shaping character-driven, visually compelling stories.

This experience deepened my belief in the power of collaborative storytelling and strengthened my editorial voice as a documentary filmmaker committed to impact.
