In preparation for anticipated rain this winter, people who live in burned areas, or downhill of burned areas, should be aware of increased risks for:

• Flash Flooding: Normally, rainfall is absorbed by vegetation and soils, reducing runoff.

The County of Sonoma and the City of Santa Rosa have opened a Local Assistance Center (LAC) in partnership with FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services (CalEOS).

Re-Entering Neighborhoods, Debris Removal and Clean Up, and Shelter and Temporary Housing Update  

Local,  state and federal governments are working together to facilitate the repopulation of Sonoma County neighborhoods that have been damaged or destroyed in the fires, including the safe removal and handling of burn debris and ash.

The Consulate General of Mexico in San Francisco will be offering resources to victims of the North Bay wildfires in Santa Rosa.

• We are planning several re-entry and property assessment educational sessions to prepare individuals whose homes were destroyed during the Tubbs fire.

A Local Assistance Center (LAC), which officials are calling a “one stop shop” to provide resources to those affected by the ongoing fires, opened October 14 in downtown Santa Rosa in the first floor of the Press Democrat building at 427 Mendocino Ave.
