Zoe Rosenberg speaks outside the Sonoma County jail, after the trial of another animal
rights activist in November, 2023.

23-year-old animal rights activist  Zoe Rosenberg was found guilty in a Sonoma County court room Wednesday afternoon, of criminal conspiracy and trespass.

Rosenberg is an outspoken animal rights advocate, with a large social media following, and an organizer with the group Direct Action Everywhere.

She could face up to five years in prison after a Sonoma County jury convicted Rosenberg of a felony and three misdemeanors for taking chickens from a Petaluma Poultry vehicle in 2023.

Rosenberg's case and conviction are the latest in a years-long standoff between animal rights advocates, many with the Berkeley based group Direct Action Everywhere, and Sonoma County's poultry producers.

Rosenberg's sentencing hearing is scheduled for early December.
