Dive teams in Sonoma County recovered the body of a man who may be the same person that was last seen jumping into the Russian River by the Hacienda Bridge on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office and other first responders found the body of a man on Sunday.

The body of a person who investigators believe used a rope swing to jump into the Russian River and was not immediately located may have been found, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.

First responders were called out to the Hacienda Bridge area of the Russian River just after 5:30 p.m. on Saturday after someone reported a man using a rope swing to jump into the water but then did not resurface.

Deputies, the Sonoma County Fire Protection District, the California Highway Patrol, the Graton Fire Protection District and Cal Fire all assisted with the call reporting a possible drowning. After not locating the man, it became a body recovery operation, the Sheriff's Office said.

On Sunday at about 11:20 a.m., a body was found by dive teams in the Russian River that is believed to be of the missing person. The man's identity is not being released at this time.
