Police in Santa Rosa are investigating a collision between a driver and a pedestrian on Saturday that left a 14-year-old boy in critical condition.
Officers were sent at about 10:20 p.m. to College Avenue just west of the intersection with Beaver Street after a several people, including the suspected driver, called 911 to report the collision.
The victim, a 14-year-old boy, was lying in the street when officers arrived and he was unconscious, police said.
Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the boy to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. As of Monday he remained in critical condition.
The female driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, and police do not initially believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The woman indicated that she was driving her Honda Pilot westbound on College Avenue, approaching the intersection with Beaver Street, when she struck the boy who had entered the roadway from the north side of College Avenue.
As of Monday, investigators hadn't determined if the boy was in a crosswalk when he was struck and they think he may have been on a skateboard, police said. Detectives believe the boy was with another juvenile at the time.
Investigators processed the collision scene and are looking for surveillance video in the area. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer Mike Mieger at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
