The crowd braved earlier rain showers to attend
Petaluma's Veterans Day celebration on Nov. 11, 2024.
About 100 people---several wearing some type of military uniform---gathered in downtown Petaluma Monday to enjoy a Veterans Day parade and program. The city made a special declaration highlighting the largest Coast Guard training grounds on the West Coast, the training facility just west of Petaluma. According to the Training Center's website, its "graduates are the latest chefs, medics, storekeepers, yeoman, information systems technicians, electronics technicians, and operations specialists," for the U.S. Coast Guard.

That was Coast Guard Auxiliary member Alvin Kurah speaking to KRCB's Noah Abrams. Petaluma has been hosting a vets day parade since 1967; started then by World War I veterans.
