From his own experience as a father, he knows the road to a dad’s heart can involve a positively infectious connection to nature and recreation while inspired by the comfort of good food and warm family.

With regional access to 76 miles of Sonoma coastline, over 60 miles of Russian River and near endless winding backroads and trails thought out our inland valleys, we are fortunate to have so many nearby options to reconnect with our natural world and at the same time share the experience with family. Our growing access to parks and activities for this father’s day weekend is only limited by time rather than choices.

Boundless opportunities await such as bike riding along the West County Trail which starts near downtown Santa Rosa as the Joe Rodota Trail, taking you through Sebastopol and all the way to Forestville near the proposed new town square.

There’s fishing from shore or by boat at Spring Lake Park in Santa Rosa or Riverfront Park near Windsor. There is even disc golfing at Taylor Mountain Regional Park or Crane Creek, paddling or floating lazily down the Russian River, or hiking through an ancient redwood grove or among oak woodlands with guidance by The Trails Challenge.

You can even build a campfire while camping on the coast, backpacking at Hood Mountain, or geocaching though out the entire Regional Parks system.
Get out this Father’s Day weekend and enjoy Sonoma County’s great outdoors!
