With three separate organizations ( the Palm Drive Health Care District,  Sonoma West Medical Center and The Palm Drive Hospital Foundation)each involved in the finances and future of Sebastopol’s community hospital, it can be confusing and hard to sort out which group is responsible for what. Dan Smith,  Board Chairman for the new Sonoma West Medical Center that plans to reopen and operate the hospital under that name, offers this explanation of the relative roles of the three entities.
