This segment from Community Health Connections focuses on defining our local food system. It explains what a food system is and why it is an important part of how a community functions. ll over the world, the North Bay is hailed as a food mecca. While we may have some of the finest restaurants, wines, and produce, that is only one part of our food system. Sonoma County actually has three times as many unhealthy food outlets nearby as healthy ones and nearly 20 percent of our adult population is considered food insecure -- meaning they don't always have access to safe, nutritious foods. This episode of Community Health Connections explores our local food system, where our food comes from, where it goes, and what happens to it along the way.
