Marches for Science Linked to Earth Day

As science increasingly comes under fire from conservative political forces, public support for research and empirical evidence is being rallied in a global array of pro-science events this weekend—including two in Santa Rosa.

In thinking about the importance of science in daily life, Adrienne Alvord, the Western States Director for the Union of Concerned Scientists, points out that is it vital for both economic and personal health.

It is the nature of science to be constantly changing, as new information becomes known.  But SSU professor of Environmental Studies and Planning Daniel Soto asks, are we equally able to incorporate this new information in our own views and beliefs?

Following the noon rally in Julliard Park, the Santa Rosa March for Science will proceed to City Hall, just a few blocks away.  The Walk a Mile for Science Event for  children ages 0-5  (and their families) will actually be longer.  It begins at 10 am in

Comstock Park, and will end at the Childrens Museum of Snata Rosa.. See details below.
