American Graduate Day

American Graduate Day – September 27, 2014

American Graduate Day returns for its third year on September 27, 2014, from 8:00-1:00pm on KRCB television. This national, multi-platform event (both TV and online) features a mix of live breaks and pre-taped segments that focus on the individuals and organizations working across the country to keep students on the path to graduation. The stories are inspirational and provide compelling evidence that people really can make a difference at the grassroots level.

KRCB was chosen to produce three local “Stories of Champions”—short profile pieces spotlighting individuals in our own community who have made a difference in helping kids earn high school diplomas. We focused on the remarkable trio behind the creation of Roseland University Prep, the innovative charter school that made national news with the astounding graduation rates of its predominantly at-risk students. Watch the show (or follow our webpage links) and learn about the visionary school district superintendent, the relentless fundraiser, and the bold university president who fostered a minor miracle in high school education, right in our own backyard.

KRCB’s Stories of Champions:

Gail Andrade Ahlas, Retired Superintendent, Roseland School District

Dr. Ruben Armiñana, President, Sonoma State University

Susan Moore, Community Organizer
