Sonoma County Supervisor Shirlee Zane was in our studios recently, talking about a group she has formed to meet with the CEO of Kaiser Permanente, Bernard Tyson. The group is made up of families who say they have been failed by Kaiser’s mental health care. They are demanding improvements.
Zane has been fighting to improve Kaiser’s mental health care since her husband took his life in 2011. She feels that Kaiser failed to treat him properly. And in her meeting with Tyson and other Kaiser executives, she has encouraged the company to try new approaches to care.
