"As a vital Sonoma County radio station, KRCB is going to do prime time (commute time?) interviews with the candidates for office, isn't it? In this crucial election year, voters need to hear straight talk from the men and women who aspire to office. This election year is too important to neglect informing the electorate. Let's take one specific race: voters need to hear first-hand from both Lynn Woolsey and Jim Judd. Interview them and ask them both the tough questions. It is hugely important that KRCB play its part and allow the candidates to speak. I want to be able to tune in VERY soon and hear both these candidates being interviewed during peak listening hours."

Dear Listener:

KRCB makes a concerted effort to cover local elections for our community and our audience. Our approach has been to do this as close to home as possible, which has generally meant giving precedence to the city council and county supervisor races.

In the November 2 election, there are more than 100 candidates for local positions on the ballot in Sonoma County alone. It is simply not possible for us to interview all of them, so KRCB-FM has chosen to focus on the city council races in Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Healdsburg, Sebastopol and Cotati. These are the cities with contested races that lie most directly within our radio broadcast foot print.

On television, we will broadcast three candidate forums hosted by the League of Women Voters on Sunday mornings at 8 am, as follows: October 17 -- Santa Rosa City Council;     October 24 -- Petaluma City Council; and, October 31 -- Statewide ballot measures. We also invite candidates for state offices to submit video statements, which are aired throughout our broadcast day.

However, at this time, our available resources do not enable KRCB to conduct the sort of long-form, one-on-one interviews you desire with any of the candidates in any of the races. We hope to be able to do more in the future.

Thank you for your interest and suggestions.

"A friend won some cool stuff on a recent KRCB auction. I want to participate! When is your next auction and how does an old computer-challenged guy get involved?

Thanks for your help.

Dear Viewer:

Thanks for your interest in the KRCB auction. Our next auction is just around the corner. It is our celebrated Wine and Epicurean Auction beginning at 6:30 pm on October 8, 9 and 10, and 15, 16 and 17. Believe it or not, even in this day of everything computer, you don't even have to own a computer to get involved in the bidding process. You just need to have a television and a phone! Of course, if you do want to place your bids on-line, that is available, too. Pre-bidding on-line, in the days preceding the live auction, is becoming more popular, as is bidding on-line during the live auction itself. Whatever way you choose to get involved with our auction, please know that we are profoundly grateful for your support. If you decide you wish to try bidding on-line, please give our auction department a call at (707) 584-2018 or (707) 584-2014 and they can brief you in more detail about the computer options.

Best regards,

Dear KRCB:

I subscribe to Comcast Cable TV and can access Ch. 22 and no other KRCB channel, yet your tv listing (internet) shows other channels -- Ch. 22.1 and 22.2 DT2. How can I access them via Comcast? Their TV listing does not show these channels. Please help.

Thank you.

Dear Viewer:

At this time, Comcast does not carry our over-the-air digital Channels 22.2 and 22.3. Only those viewers who receive our signal via antenna can access these. Channel 22.1 is the same as Channel 22 which Comcast and satellite subscribers can receive. Channel 22.2 is CreateTV, and Channel 22.3 is our FM radio broadcast.

Best regards,

Viewer asks:

Does Channel 22 come in in Berkeley when using my digital converter box? I have not been able to get it, but maybe my antenna is in the wrong position.

Dear Viewer:

We do have viewers from Berkeley who get us over the air, however their ability to get us depends on several factors, e.g., altitude, clear sight of Sonoma Mountain where our antenna is located, foliage obstructions. If you want to attempt to reposition your antenna and have a clear sight of Sonoma Mountain, be sure to "aim" it to the western side of the mountain (Petaluma, Old Adobe and Washington roads) rather than to the eastern (Sonoma) side. Best of luck.
