KRCB joins with many other environmentally aware organizations to do our part to preserve the environment.

It began with a recycle program in our studios, expanded to the production of a nationally distributed award winning program Natural Heroes, continued with the replacement of KRCB landscaping to help conserve water and now we are asking you, our members, to join us in the effort.

Beginning with the November edition of our monthly publication Open Air, KRCB members will have the choice of going to our website at KRCB.org and viewing or retrieving a copy of the KRCB program guide.

KRCB mails some six-thousand-plus paper copies of the Open Air each month; you can imagine how much energy and precious planetary resources we will be able to save by encouraging members to access the guide through the KRCB.org website.

That's just what we are asking you to do, forgo the paper copy of the Open Air in favor of the on line version.

If you already regularly communicate with us through e-mail or regularly renew your membership on line, what could be more natural than to extend that activity to getting your Open Air on line at KRCB.org.

Right now you can get a copy of the current Open Air at http://www.krcb.org/November-2009 or go directly to http://www.krcb.org/ and look for the Open Air on line links.

Please, take this opportunity to help KRCB Go Green by accessing your copy of Open Air on line today.

The planet, your community and KRCB will thank you.

Amy Goodman comes to Santa Rosa for a lecture and book signing at the Glaser Center in Santa Rosa on November 15, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Doors open at 3:30 pm. KRCB Public Broadcasting and the Unitarian Universalist Congregation Santa Rosa are sponsoring this event.

Amy Goodman’s visit celebrates the paperback release of her latest book Breaking the Sound Barrier. Denis Moynihan, who edited the book, will also appear at the event. Music will be performed by singer/songwriter Moss Henry.

Tickets for Amy Goodman’s appearance are available at Copperfield's bookstores, The Last Record Store, or the Glaser Center at 547 Mendocino Avenue. Credit Card Orders - call KRCB at 584-2055 or online at www.krcb.org/AmyGoodman. Tickets $15/ $12 for KRCB members

In Breaking the Sound Barrier, Amy Goodman brings us voices of ordinary people not usually covered by major media sources - from community organizers in New Orleans, to American soldiers who’ve said “No” to war, to the victims of torture and police violence. Breaking the Sound Barrier proves the power that independent journalism can play in the struggle for a better world, one in which everyday citizens are the true experts of their own lives and communities.
