Flashback hits the road
Summertime, and the livin’ is mobile. The road trip
vacation is a deep-seated cultural convention, conveniently one that has been
widely and justly celebrated in song. On July’s midsummer flashback, we’ll
savor some of those songs, from such worthy contributors as Canned Heat,
Steppenwolf, Danny O’Keefe, Delaney and Bonnie, and Creedence Clearwater
Revival. Enjoy an hour of vicarious traveling courtesy of the next Flashback, Tuesday, July 7 at 7 pm.
Then in August, we arrive at Woodstock, where there was WAAYY more music than made it into the fim or even the pair of albums (5 LPs altogether) that were subsequently issued. From little-known groups such as Sweetwater (who actually opened the entire festival) to major acts like Janis Joplin, the Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival and the Grateful Dead, we'll hear from the others who were there, plus some additional choice performances that somehow didn't make the original cut, when Flashback goes to Woodstock, Tuesday, August 4 at 7 pm.
