 s penal colony in the 1780s where a group of Royal Marines and convicts co
 me together to stage a production of &quot\;The Recruiting Officer.&quot\;
  Convinced that art and theater could inspire and restore the human spiri
 t\, a British lieutenant plans to present a stage play featuring a cast of
  misfit and illiterate prisoners when he meets opposition from his fellow 
 officers. This award-winning play by Timberlake Wertenbaker features a sto
 ryline pulled from journals and other written accounts that touches on lov
 e\, death\, comedy and profound thought. This play contains language more
  suited to adult audiences. Co-directed by Ann Brebner and Tara Blau Pic
