We love to travel with our 30-pound dog. Staying along the coast is ideal because the weather is always suitable for leaving the dog in the car while we are dining or doing an activity that is not dog related. Recently we found a wonderful inn in Mendocino that caters both to humans and to canines. The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek is warm, welcoming and charming for both the dogs and the people who love them. They have a meadow where well-behaved dogs can romp leash free,canine treats and toys are supplied, and there is a small beach across the highway and a short walk away where the dog can safely play in the surf. On the way home to Petaluma, we stopped at Navarro Winery where our dog was welcome to join us on their expansive deck overlooking the vineyards. We enjoyed a nice gl*** of wine, then headed into the vineyard for a nice walk before heading home. I would love to hear from others who have found perfect getaways to share with their pets.
