Sailing the Caribbean

I had the great opportunity to go on a ten day Caribbean cruise on Princess Cruises. The ship was lovely, food was good, the onboard experience was very nice. The high point of the cruise, of course, was visiting the various ports of call. Departing from Ft Lauderdale, we first went to St. Thomas. I had always wanted to go to the Virgin Islands (along with the rest of the Caribbean) and was surprised that St Thomas sort of looked like Southern California in terrain (only). Spent time exploring the historic area and had a tour around the island. Next, we went to St Maarten. We made port on the Dutch side of the island and took a tour to the French side. It was a very charming and delightful afternoon. From there we sailed to Antigua and Barbados. I have to say those were my favorite islands on the cruise. The next port of call was St. Vincent. Unfortunately, didn't get to see much of that island (traveling with 90 year old Mother and she doesn't scuba dive).Outside of seeing all these new places, the best thing for me was sailing the Caribbean. It was beyond gorgeous! I loved seeing the islands in the distance and being warm all the time is heaven to me. It was incredible to stroll the deck at night, taking in the warm evening and sound of the sea. I would highly recommend a Caribbean cruise (or visiting the Caribbean in any form). I never thought I was the cruise "type" but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hi Kitten - sounds like you had a great trip! I love, warm weather and sailing, as well. Would love to take a Caribbean cruise or a Mediterranean Cruise. I think it would be amazing to sail the entire Mediterranean, particularly the Greek islands. Would also love to go to St Barts, the British Virgin Islands, Roatan. Heck, if it's warm, an island, great beaches and warm water, I'm there!
