Community Journal

With the help of 500 volunteers, 1000 business donors and 15,000 bids from the viewing public, KRCB’s three auctions make for lively volunteer opportunities as well as a great way to support public broadcasting. And because KRCB's auctions are our largest and most visible fundraising events, reaching over 2.6 million viewers, they’re a great way to promote your organization.

All you have to do is put together a ten- to twenty-person team to answer phones, do important behind the scenes jobs, or both! Teams can be members of your organization, their families, friends, or neighbors – anyone interested in supporting the community and your organization.

Phone Team
As a phone team sponsor for an evening, you’ll need to bring ten people to answer phones and your group will receive the following:

A 60-second live interview with a representative of your choice Recognition as an underwriter of the Gold board for the evening
Volunteers can sport t-shirts or sweatshirts with your logo

Support Team
We also need support teams of ten people to do one of the following behind-the-scenes jobs:

Take bids from the phone bank

Write bids on the boards

Work in confirmation calling back high bidders

Work in the display area

As a thank you, your group will receive the following:

A 60-second live interview with a representative of your choice
Recognition as an underwriter of the Silver board for the evening

As an auction team, your group is certain to benefit from the high visibility of this very special and lively event. Your participation will spotlight your organization as one that cares about our community and quality broadcasting.

There is a limited number of phone and support team slots available each night, so reserve your night now by calling Pam Hayes at 707-584-2007.

As a public broadcasting station, KRCB depends upon the support of its members in order to provide programming that educates, informs, and enriches our lives as individuals and as a society.

Likewise, KRCB relies upon volunteers and interns who do everything from answering phones to TV and radio announcing; from operating a camera to editing video and audio for broadcast; from data entry and website assistance to helping manage our live on-air broadcast.

Currently KRCB is accepting applications for interns with an interest in journalism, video production, television and radio broadcasting. There are also many opportunities for volunteers with an interest/skill in those areas.

Coming up in October is our televised live Wine and Epicurean Auction; if you are interested in volunteering there are many opportunities: take bids over the phone, monitor bids coming in on the website, join the video production crew, describe items on air, make confirmtion calls, help with hospitality (great food!). For more info contact Cheryl before October 13th. The auction dates are 10/14, 10/15, 10/16 and 10/21, 10/22, 10/23 from 6:30 to 11 p.m.
