Primary politics and primary care physicians are the topics of today’s report. Republican voters in California face an array of choices (right), but most of the state’s residents don’t just lack a choice of doctors able to see them, they’re hard pressed to find even one.
Finals may be approaching for University of California students, but for many, a more immediate concern is the upward spiral of costs for their education, compounded by the agressive police actions against protestors at some campuses. That message was delivered with vehemence as the UC Board of Regents met Monday.
UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi walked into a quad full of critics Monday when she addressed thousands of students, faculty, staff and “Occupy” movement protesters. The rally came three days after campus police pepper-sprayed 11 students who appeared to be protesting peacefully. Katehi did NOT authorize the use of force, but she DID order police to break up a camp site Friday. Reporter Ben Adler has more.
