Rebels With a Cause is a public television documentary about the extraordinary efforts of the ordinary people who saved the lands of the Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area from development. Rebels With a Cause tells the little- known story of open space, farmlands, and unspoiled coastlines of Marin and Sonoma Counties.

Since the late 1960's, Puerto Rico and small fishing villages like Rincon have undergone expansive coastal development, driven by tourism and the growing demand for beachfront property. 'The Edge of the Sea' follows Pauco in his battle against a local developer planning to build a mega condo project on one of Rincon's most popular public beaches. This film explores the issue of privatization of public areas, and the social and environmental consequences of excessive coastal development.

In 1992, Laurette Rogers 4th-grade class asked her what they could do to save endangered species? The response was to initiate a class project to restore streams in the Stemple Creek watershed in Marin County in order to save the endangered California Freshwater Shrimp. This remarkable effort evolved into an award-winning regional program that has since restored over 20 miles of habitat, galvanized the local community, and led to significant educational innovations that connect children and their teachers with their local watershed.

The film is packed with action and beauty and compassion as The Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary experts work with well-trained volunteers to safely cut whales free of marine debris. When humpback whales migrating between Alaska and Hawaii become entangled in marine debris, a small network of well-trained volunteer rescuers risk their lives to save them.
