Their numbers fluctuate from thousands on Saturday afternoon to a dozen or two overnight in midweek, but the determination of the Occupy Santa Rosa activists is holding steady as the protest heads into its second week.
So far, the Santa Rosa demonstrators and the city's police have maintained a cordial relationship, although not everyone sees it the same way. Activitsts Tess McDermott and Carl Cummerlay, who emphasized that he spoke only for himself, illustrate the two poles on that issue.
The Santa Rosa occupiers have been getting more than audible encouragement from passers-by and honking cars. Food and other tangible support has also been forthcoming, but Tess McDermott says they are not accepting donations. At least not by that name.
Meanwhile in Occupy Napa is preparing for their fourth weekend demonstration on Saturday. Joanne Gifford, one of that group's organizing team, says she has been pleased and encouraged by the reactions their Saturday actions have elicited.
