The thousands of acres of open space and shoreline now protected and accessible to the public might not be there but for the efforts of a handful of visionary conservations just a couple of generations ago. A new documentary tells their story.
Filmmakers Kenji Yamamoto and Nancy KellyMost of the events covered in Nancy Kelly and Kenji Yamamoto's new documentary, Rebels with a Cause, were thoroughly reported when they occurred, in the 1950s, '60s and early '70s. Consequently, Yamamoto says, they had mountains of archival material to sort through.

For most of the eight years that this project was underway, it carried the working title, "Moments in Time." Only late in the final editing, recalls Kelly, did the finished name emerge.
The screenings of Rebel With A Cause at the Mill Valley Film Festival are sold out, but you can see the trailer here.
