Porchlight Theatre Company presents outdoor production of "Our Country's Good" WHO: Porchlight Theatre Company WHAT: "Our Country's Good" By Timberlake Wertenbaker ~ adapted from the Thomas Keneally novel "The Playmaker"
This outdoor production of "Our Country's Good," takes audiences to a New South Wales penal colony in the 1780s where a group of Royal Marines and convicts come together to stage a production of "The Recruiting Officer."
Convinced that art and theater could inspire and restore the human spirit, a British lieutenant plans to present a stage play featuring a cast of misfit and illiterate prisoners when he meets opposition from his fellow officers. This award-winning play by Timberlake Wertenbaker features a storyline pulled from journals and other written accounts that touches on love, death, comedy and profound thought.
This play contains language more suited to adult audiences.
Co-directed by Ann Brebner and Tara Blau
