The summer highway constrction season is in full swing (weather permitting) so CalTrans is advising drivers on Highway 101 through the Rohnert Park-Cotati area, and on Highway One south of Bodega Bay to be aware of the following changing conditions. Pay attention!
Traffic Shifts on U.S. Route 101 in Cotati
Caltrans will implement several traffic shifts on U.S. Route 101 in Cotati this week.
On the night of Thursday, June 2, northbound traffic on 101 will be shifted to the right onto the newly completed portion of the Highway 116 overpass structure. This shift will enable crews to finish building the rest of the new overpass structure. On Friday night, June 3, southbound traffic on 101 will be shifted into the Highway 116 overpass median. This shift will also enable crews to finish building the rest of the new structure.
The following week, similar shifts will be implemented for 101 traffic passing over the Railroad Avenue overpass. Northbound traffic will be shifted to the right on the night of June 6. Southbound traffic will shift into the median on the night of June 7.
The traffic shifts are part of a $55 million project that will build new High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes, or "diamond lanes," on a five mile stretch of 101 between Rohnert Park Expressway and Pepper Road. For more information, visit the project web page.
One-Way Traffic Control on Highway 1 Near Bodega Bay
Caltrans will implement one-way traffic control on a segment of State Highway 1 just south of Bodega Bay on June 7, 2011. The one-way traffic control will reduce the road to one lane, and will remain in place twenty-four hours a day for about three months.
The one-way traffic control will enable crews to safely construct a retaining wall along this section of the highway. The heavy winter rains left this area susceptible to mud and rock slides.
Traffic will be controlled by signals set on either side of the closure. Drivers are advised to expect moderate delays and to allow extra travel time.
