Sonoma State University Jazz Forum - The Shotgun Wedding Quintet Sept. 14 1:00 p.m. GMC 1029 * SSU jazz program alumnus Adam Theis has become one of the most visible personalities of the San Francisco music scene – he is the founder of the “Jazz Mafia,” a collective of some of the most forward-thinking musicians around. The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, featuring Theis on trombone, tuba & bass guitar, is a cadre of Jazz Mafia multi-instrumentalists who create an exciting blend of hip-hop & jazz. Their latest CD, “Tales from the Barbary Coast,” has received much critical acclaim since its release last summer. Jazz Forum at SSU is a unique performance/master class designed to expose jazz majors and guests to a wide variety of jazz styles.
