Public Workshop from 6:00-8:00PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 PROPOSED STRATEGIES TO REDUCE GHG EMISSIONS TO BE TOPIC OF SECOND COMMUNITY WORKSHOP FOR THE SANTA ROSA GHG REDUCTION PROGRAM City is seeking public input on proposed reduction measures WHAT: The City of Santa Rosa is seeking input on strategies to reduce the city’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as part of the citywide Greenhouse Gas Reduction Program. City staff is looking to understand which GHG reduction measures will work best for the community. At the meeting, participants will learn what work has been completed to-date and get a recap of the project’s goals and objectives. Participants will have an opportunity to review the proposed GHG reduction measures, discuss the measures with participants, and provide feedback on the appropriateness of the measures for the Santa Rosa community. Participants will also have a chance to propose additional reduction measures for consideration. Reduction strategies are being proposed in the building, transportation, water, waste, and renewable energy sectors. Community input will shape the City’s sustainability policies and programs to secure a more sustainable future and comply with regulatory direction from State and regional agencies. The GHG Reduction Program is funded by a Department of Energy grant that will help the City identify cutting edge strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as green building policies, energy retrofits, wind and solar power, updated parking policies, open space programs and others. The presentation will be led by Santa Rosa City staff and PMC, a consulting firm specializing in climate change and sustainability issues.
