The City of Santa Rosa is holding the second of five public workshops designed to gain insight on development opportunities and improvements that will support the future North Santa Rosa Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) Station, located on Guerneville Road, west of Coddingtown Mall. Concepts including transit-oriented development will be discussed and key findings will be presented regarding existing conditions within the project area. Meeting attendees will share their preferences for future area development including density, design, land use type and location.
The North Santa Rosa Station is one of 14 stations being planned by the Sonoma Marin Area Rail Transit agency. The City is seeking community input on aesthetic, residential, economic, transportation, and infrastructure improvements to the project area located within the area approximately ½ mile around the future station.
This second workshop follows a June 1st event where the City gathered feedback about the community’s vision for the project area. The City is developing a North Santa Rosa Station Area Specific Plan to support future SMART ridership at this station by enhancing connections to the station and encouraging more transit-oriented development within the project area. The workshop will be led by Santa Rosa City staff and PMC, a consulting firm specializing in Specific Plan preparation and implementation. This project is funded by a grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.
